This is an aurora located in Norway. This was taken on Haloween and looks very spooky. Green and purple Aurora colors are caused by atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen and bursts on electrons. Other times there have been beautiful auroras caused by the suns flares. To me, the picture looks more like a painting than a photograph.
